She was born on 28th Jan in Chennai to Kamal Hassan, a veteran actor and her mother Sarika Thakur also an actress. Shruti did her schooling from Chennai, Tamil Nadu and later moved to Mumbai further study in psychology. She is not just a good actress, dancer, and singer but she very keen interested in music too, so she went to USA to continue his music skill at California. She started her filmy career with Tamil film Hey Ram featured as a cameo role directed by her father Kamal Hassan based on murder attempt of Mahatma Gandhi. Shruti featured and had sung a song in another Hindi horror movie Hisss, with lead star Mallika Sherawat.
